County Councillor Tim Prater has welcomed an apology from Kent County Council Leader Paul Carter to all staff "who may have felt misled" by a statement on officers bonuses given by past Chief Executive Peter Gilroy.

The Cabinet Scrutiny Committee meets monthly to scrutinise the decisions of KCC's Leader, Cabinet and individual Cabinet Members. It is chaired by the Lib Dem Leader of the Opposition, Trudy Dean.

Fishermen from South East England have returned triumphantly from Brussels after putting their case for reform to the most powerful decision maker on European fisheries policy.

Sharon Bowles MEP has called on small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the South East to 'look to Europe' for business opportunities after a recently published report showed a positive link between exports and SME performance.

Sharon Bowles MEP has been named as the most influential women in European finance according to a Top 100 list published in the Financial News this week.

The Liberal Democrats on Kent County Council have tabled a motion for next weeks full Council meeting calling for an urgent review into large severance payments from the Council. The motion comes after reports of another huge pay-off for a Council Officer hit the national and local press.

Tue 13th Jul 2010:

Kent County Council have announced that they have finished the short-listing process of the companies who expressed an interest in the core highways maintenance contract. The core maintenance contract is currently provided in partnership with Ringway, and was put out to tender a few months ago.
