Election 2009

2007 election graph

On June 4th, there are a large number of elections across Shepway. Everywhere in the area there are elections for the European and County Council elections, and in some areas, there are also District / Town / Parish By-elections as well.

The Liberal Democrats are fighting across Kent and are expected to mount a real challenge to the Conservatives in the Shepway area. Only the Liberal Democrats and Conservatives are contesting every seat up for election in Shepway.

Following their collapse in vote to under 2% across Shepway in the 2007 District Council elections, Labour have failed to even stand a candidate in the Hythe West District Council by-election. Only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Conservatives across Shepway.

Catherine Bearder, Sharon Bowles MEP and Ben Abbott: Leading the Lib Dems South-East England European Campaign

The Liberal Democrats want to get a fair deal from Europe for the South East. Led by Sharon Bowles MEP the Liberal Democrats are Europe's 'critical friend'. Liberal Democrats are best placed to tackle cross-border issues like climate change and crime.

June 4th 2009 will be polling day for the next European Elections. The more people who support the Liberal Democrats - the more we can do to get a fair deal for the South East.

Kent County Council Elections

Kent Lib Dems: "6 to Fix" manifesto

The Conservative run County Council have been criticised by the Audit Commission over their investments totalling £50 million in Icelandic banks which failed. Roads and pavements across Kent are badly maintained and failing, with estimates that it would take over 200 years to repair all our local roads at the current rate.
