Maureen Kincaid Speller: "As a local resident, I know how important it is that we can be proud of our town."

In the forthcoming Folkestone Central by-election (13 October) to Shepway District Council, the Conservatives have selected a candidate who lives in Selsted, more than 5 miles from Folkestone. Local residents will have to choose between local Lib Dem Maureen Kincaid Speller, who lives in central Folkestone, and the Tory candidate from the village north of Densole.

Local Lib Dem campiagner Peter Carroll said:

"It is hard to believe that a resident of a small village in rural Elham Valley will truly understand our day to day problems in central Folkestone."

Maureen Kincaid Speller has lived in central Folkestone for more than 20 years, and is particularly focusing on getting action to clean up the area. Maureen's message to Conservative-led Shepway Council and local residents is clear:

"Walking into town you can't help but see how disgracefully untidy some people areas are, with litter and graffiti all over the place. As a local resident, I know how important it is that we can be proud of our town. I will fight hard for our area."
