Looking for Loos for Cheriton Rec

10.28.21am GMT Mon 1st Feb 2010

Cheriton Councillor Tim Prater is looking into the possibility of reinstating a public toilet into Cheriton Rec after a request from a local resident. The resident was pleased about plans to improve Cheriton Rec with new facilities, but raised the issue that with the nearest public toilets being some way away in Somerset Road and having no family facilities, the lack of a toilet in the park could be a public health issue.

Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater said:

"I'm delighted we are getting new facilities into Cheriton Rec in partnership with Shepway District Council, Folkestone Town Council and local residents, and hope we can look at re-introducing a loo as part of that. I'm no builder so have no idea of the costs, but have contacted Shepway and a national public toilet provider to see what the costs and options could be to see if we could take this forward.

"It doesn't have to be huge, but a clean, family friendly toilet in the Rec would make it much more convenient for families to come down and enjoy the new facilities."
