Brian Wright and Val Loseby: A Strong Team to stand up for New Romney Coast4.40.27pm GMT Wed 11th Nov 2009
With the New Romney Coast by-election on 12th November, Lib Dem candidate Brian Wright has made a pledge to local residents to work with popular local councillor Val Loseby to stand up for local residents who feel let down by Shepway Council and get a fair deal for New Romney Coast. Brian promises: "We'll work with not just Shepway, but our local town and parish councils to get the best for our area. "The Liberal Democrats have been consistent on Lydd Airport expansion. The recent Shepway Council report that recommended the rejection of the airport expansion on environmental grounds backed up what local campaigners and residents have been saying for years. It's about time that the application was heard and decided - waiting until March is ridiculous. "And as a local team, we'll be making sure local streetlights are working to make our streets a safer place to be at night. "We'll work with local residents to get fly-tipping removed - and stopped. "And we'll work to make sure our beaches and streets are clean and tidy by working with local groups and pushing Shepway to take their responsibilities seriously. "Val Loseby is a great Councillor for New Romney Coast. Working together, we can achieve even more for the area." Polls are open in the New Romney Coast by-election from 7am - 10pm on Thursday 12th November. The polling station is at the Varne Boat Club, Greatstone, and voters do not need to take their polling card to vote.
