Audit Commission award Shepway "good" council status on appeal3.02.29pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 19th Aug 2008 An appeal by Shepway Council against the 'fair' score the Council received following a CPA reassessment in March has resulted in the council being re-rated as "good". Although the results of the review have not yet been officially published, the news was broken this afternoon in an email from Shepway Chief Executive Alistair Stewart and Council Leader Robert Bliss in a message to staff and Councillors. Lib Dem Shepway Group Leader, Lynne Beaumont, commented: "I am delighted for all officers and staff at the Council who have worked for so long, and been so focused, on achieving this reassessment result. Congratulations to them all. "However, most residents rate their Council on local services and appearance of the district: whether their streets are clean, rubbish collected and the area looked after well. On these measures, many people would still say Shepway has a long way to go before it is 'good'."
