Chilham Road residents are asking for double yellow lines in their road to be removed as they have made parking problems in the road much worse.

New double yellow lines were painted at the end of Chilham Road in Cheriton, with the intention of allowing a turning area for cars. The reduction in parking space has increased the traffic problems in the road, with residents being forced to park some distance away.

The survey of residents views was carried out by Cheriton Councillor Peter Carroll in response to requests from some local residents. A survey sent to all residents in the road has had a huge response, with almost all residents asking for the lines to be removed.

Councillor Carroll said:

"Having got this very strong feedback from local residents, I will be asking for the lines to be removed: parking is now a nightmare for Chilham Road residents."
