Broken Window

The view from the broken window in the Fullers flat

Local Lib Dem campaigner Gary Fuller was shocked to discover that one of the windows in his flat had been vandalised this week. Gary's central Folkestone flat had a window broken - despite being on the first floor. Commenting on the discovery of a crack in his bedroom window, he said:

"If the glass had shattered, my daughter, my wife and I could have been covered in broken glass. Luckily, it appears that whatever was thrown at the window wasn't heavy enough to cause more than superficial damage, although the glass will probably have to be replaced."

Gary, whose one bedroom flat overlooks Sandgate Road, has reported the matter to the police, but thinks it is unlikely that the culprit will be caught. He said:

"Anti-social behaviour is a daily issue for residents of central Folkestone and there is little evidence of the high-visibility policing that is needed to combat the issue. With the number of police officers in Folkestone looking likely to be cut, matters can only get worse. If we are to reduce the levels of anti-social behaviour affecting our town, the police will need extra resources, not fewer."

Gary has written to Shaun Taylor, at Shepway District Council, in the past few months to raise concerns about anti-social behaviour in the local area and is strongly opposed to plans to reduce the number of police officers patrolling South Kent's streets. If, like Gary, you oppose these plans, sign our petition online at http://www.shepwaylibdems.org.uk/petitions/9.html.
