£850,000 to Repair Shepway's Broken Recycling Service9.25.06pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 6th Apr 2006
Shepway Council is to spend more than £850,000 replacing the one-year-old fleet of refuse lorries which had to be withdrawn for safety reasons around 4 months ago. The Council is currently hiring eight trucks for £9,000 a week until the 10 new trucks are in place. The original trucks could not be repaired as the manufacturers have since closed down.
